Suzuki . How to Put My 95 Tahoe Into 4 Wheel DriveYou can use the four-wheel drive setting on your Chevy Tahoe in off-road or slippery conditions. This provides you with extra traction. There are two four-wheel drive settings: four-wheel drive high and four-wheel drive low. Four-wheel drive high is for light situations, such as a slightly slippery road. Four-wheel drive low is for extreme conditions, such as heavy snow or off-road driving. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Step by Step : 1 Stop your Tahoe. Apply the brake and shift the automatic transmission into "Neutral." 2 Inspect your transfer-case shifter in the center of the floorboard. Look for the gear labeled "4L" on the top. 3 Swiftly push the transfer-case shifter into "4L" with one fluid motion. Do not stop with the transfer case in "Neutral." This may damage the case. 4 Repeat the process to shift back into two-wheel drive, but move the transfer-case shifter into "2H." Make sure the automatic-transmission shifter is in "Neutral" when switching back to two-wheel drive. Tips & Warnings To shift into four-wheel drive high ("4H"), remove your foot from the gas pedal for a second, and then shift the transfer-case down into "4H." It is not necessary to stop the Tahoe or put the automatic-transmission in "Neutral" first. Do not drive at speeds higher than 15 miles per hour in four-wheel drive low mode. This mode is designed for low-speed, high-traction situations.
Suzuki . How to Remove an Automatic Shifter KnobRemoving an automatic shifter knob is a relatively easy task that can be completed in about 5 minutes on most vehicles. Car manufacturers most often use one of two types of shifter knobs. One type of shifter knob is attached to the shaft using pressure and a compression fitting. The other type of shifter knob basically just screws into the shaft. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Allen wrench Flat head screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Identify the type of shifter knob that your vehicle has. Check around the knob to see if there's a screw or an Allen head bolt securing the shifter knob to the shaft. Either one will need to be removed before you can take off the shifter knob. 2 Use a screwdriver or an Allen wrench to unscrew the bolt or the screw holding the shifter knob to the shaft. If the knob is held in place by compression, use a flat head screwdriver to separate the base of the knob from the compression fitting. Be careful not to apply too much pressure or you could break the fitting. Some cars also have a snap ring on the shaft to prevent the knob from moving while it's being used. Check the base of the shifter knob for this snap ring. If the ring is present, use a flat head screwdriver to remove it from the shaft. 3 Pull the shifter knob off the shaft. Once the bolt or the screw has been removed from the base of the shifter, the knob should be loose, and you should be able to either unscrew the knob itself from the shaft or pull it straight off the shaft. Pull gently on the knob to see if it comes off the shaft easily. If it doesn't, carefully twist the knob counterclockwise to unscrew it. *hammer, for car repair. .Chapter 2: The Way to Your Car's Heart Is through Your Toolbox A 1 If all you have is a carpenter's hammer and you don't want to buy another one, you can probably make do with it. Just be sure that the hammer you use doesn't have a loose head. If the shaft isn't securely sunk into the head, the head can fly off and damage your car, you, or an innocent bystander. Claw hammers can also be dangerous because a hard, solid impact can cause the claws to break off, with dismal results. 167

Both types of pliers are useful for auto repair. If you have to buy pliers, the very best kind to get are combination slip-joint pliers. You can adjust these general-purpose tools to several widths with a slid ing pin. They usually have a wire-cutting slot built into them as well. If you're the only person on your block who doesn't possess these, by all means rush out and buy them before dark. Again, they needn't be expensive. Just make sure that they work easily, are made of forged hardened steel, and seem to be Suzuki . How much is expired inspection sticker ticket in Massachusetts?

Figure 2-13: Needle-nosed pliers and combination slip-joint pliers. -Needle-nosed pliers -Combination slip-joint pliers If you're really into tools, you may also want to buy the following pliers, but you can easily get along without them: Robogrip pliers are a useful variation of slip-joint pliers that automatically lock in position when you have a grip on the part that you want to manipulate. Adjustable vice-grip pliers are useful for persuading recalcitrant stuff to loosen or twist — if, for example, you round off the edges of a nut so that normal tools won't loosen it. When set properly, the jaws lock onto a metal part very tightly, and you can pull, push, or twist almost anything with them. A ^ Part I: Getting Started. How to use pliers Suzuki . Doing .so not only insulates the pliers, lovely wrenches for Gauqes and Meters Despite the simple principles behind how an engine works (if you want the lowdown, head to Chapter 3), many auto repair tasks require fairly precise adjustments: You put only so much oil into the engine. You add only so much air to tires. You tighten some nuts and bolts only so tight. You leave a gap of a precise size between spark plug electrodes. Several tools are available to help you determine when enough oil, fluid, air, pressure, or whatever is enough. This section highlights those that are most useful. Wire, taper, and flat feeler qauqes This section covers tools that you use for "gapping" spark plugs, points (on cars with non-electronic ignition systems), and valves. These tools are very inexpensive — some stores even give them away as premiums. Although I usually discuss specialized tools in the chapters that call for them, I want to mention these now so that you can pick them up while you're at an auto supply store buying other stuff: Wire and taper feeler gauges: You use these gauges for gapping spark plugs (see Figures 2-14 and 2-15). Gapping simply means sliding the proper-sized wire or taper gauge between the spark plug electrodes to make sure that the surfaces are the proper distance apart. Doing so ensures that the spark can jump across the gap with the proper intensity. Suzuki . Water leaking into your car through the airvents?
